Tigger watch: Give yourself some extra bounce
We're in the midst of tough economic times. In a time in which buyers are hard to find, we are still under pressure to make sales. My co-workers and I just recently spent time at a bar after work, discussing our experiences and strategies for thriving in these hard times. One of my colleagues brought up a simple strategies that has been helping him. He said that he wears a watch with Tigger on its face to help him maintain his positive outlook.
We're all familiar with the characters in A. A. Milne's books, who reside in the Hundred Acre Wood. Winnie the Pooh is the sweet, kind-hearted little bear who, above all, loves honey. Piglet is the juvenile pig who lacks confidence but is very dear and lovable. Eeyore is the sullen donkey with the nailed-on tail who always seems to be tired. Tigger, by contrast, exudes energy. He is the bouncing, ebullient tiger who is always doing something or ready to do so. His bouncing energy is an integral part of him. It's what makes Tigger Tigger.
Just think of what we could do if we could have just a fraction of Tigger's energy on a daily basis. This was my colleague's idea. He would just look at his
Tigger watch when he needed a little boost. While he didn't literally bounce around the office, it gave him the little positive thought he needed to go out, make sales calls, and close sales. Just as easily a fan of sullen Eeyore could look at her
Eeyore watch and a fan of the wily Tweety Bird could glance at her
Tweety watch.
Even some of the ordinary items in our lives can change how we think and how we behave. Just by wearing a watch on your wrist with a smiling Tigger on the face, or a grinning Winnie the Pooh or Piglet, you can turn your attitude around and smile. You could even get more energy by seeing it. A lot of people I know wear watches with their favorite cartoon characters on them, just because they make them happy. It's an example of a simple, positive change that you can make for your daily life.
